Our analysis reveals that despite reaching historic numbers in Fortune 500 leadership, women CEOs face a persistent visibility gap. Beyond mere statistics, these coverage patterns reflect and reinforce deeper challenges in how female business leadership is valued and understood.

Using Signal AI’s comprehensive media intelligence platform, we examined global coverage patterns to reveal:

  • Male CEOs received 70% more media coverage than female CEOs
  • Coverage sentiment for male CEOs was 8 percentage points higher than for female CEOs
  • Male CEOs received nearly five times more high-salience coverage than their female counterparts
  • Conversations about female empowerment in the media declined 31.5% across sectors in 2024
