Signal AI Cracks the Code on Sentiment Analysis

Launches the ability to customize how sentiment is aggregated to help companies make better data-driven decisions

24 June 2024, New York, NY – Signal AI, a global leader in reputation and risk intelligence data gathering and analysis, understands the impact the perception of your company has on all of its stakeholders – internal and external. Accurately measuring sentiment is critical to understanding your reputation and influences many of the decisions an organization needs to make to be successful.

Achieving accuracy is a complex task, as several factors influence results, such as word proximity (headline, first paragraph, etc.), negative word frequency, and context. Signal’s approach is different. By utilizing state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) algorithms, the AI can detect nuances in language, including sarcasm and context, to deliver precise sentiment scores. Businesses can now make informed decisions quickly with more reliable data.

In practical terms, this means our AI technology reads the context of the whole sentence and analyzes the overall ‘feel’ of the mention about a specific entity (brand, person, etc.) rather than simply counting positive and negative words.

Each time an entity is mentioned in an article, sentiment is determined – negative, neutral, or positive. If an entity is mentioned multiple times in an article, the multiple sentiments are aggregated to create an overall sentiment label for the entity in the article.

Taking this one step further and understanding that no two organizations are the same, Signal now empowers its users to customize how the platform aggregates sentiment to suit their needs based on five methodologies, which are categorized on two factors – sensitivity to negative and mention position within the article. This allows our customers to take control and get the information they need more quickly and accurately.

Nancy McNeill, Chief Revenue Officer for Signal AI, said, “Our ability to accurately track sentiment is arguably the best out there. We leverage AI to help our clients manage risk and reputation to ultimately achieve their goals. Adding a layer of customization, a first in the industry, is a direct response to what our clients tell us they need.”
