Reflections from Davos: Trust, AI, and the role of reputation & risk intelligence in a transforming world

This year’s World Economic Forum in Davos was nothing short of extraordinary. From stimulating panel discussions to conversations with global leaders, innovators, and changemakers, the focus was clear: we live in a time of profound technological transformation, with artificial intelligence at its core.

As Arthur Mensch (CEO of Mistral AI) aptly put it: “If you’re not thinking about AI today and how it’s going to change your business, you’re doing it wrong.”

The conversations reaffirmed something we’ve long believed at Signal AI: In today’s complex business landscape, having real-time intelligence isn’t just an advantage—it’s a necessity. Here are some of the key highlights I took away from Davos:

1. The Unprecedented Pace of AI

If there’s one takeaway from Davos, it’s that the speed of AI innovation is relentless. Just days after some of the biggest AI announcements at the event, we saw the DeepSeek AI news shake the tech world, public markets, and broader society.

2. The AI Opportunity Is Massive—But Businesses Are Struggling to Deliver ROI (yet!)

These developments are staggering—and yet, many organisations still don’t fully understand how to unlock AI’s value and adopt AI at scale. Organisations must solve these challenges now—not after regulations catch up—if they want to realize AI’s full potential.

As Richard Edelman (CEO, Edelman) put it: “The biggest risk is that AI is rejected… We need to get this accepted by making sure everybody is re-skilled… It’s your partner and it’s your enabler to be smarter, better, faster. ”

3. Trust and Decision-Making are Paramount

One of the biggest themes at Davos was trust—how businesses build it, maintain it, and scale it in the AI era. The relationship between trust, transparency, and compliance in AI has become even more prevalent—80% of AI projects fail due to distrust in machines and reluctance among employees to adopt AI tools

I had the privilege of sitting on a panel with leaders from KPMG to discuss Trust and AI. Together, we explored how AI can help organisations navigate uncertainty, foster trust, and make more confident decisions in an increasingly complex world.

The Signal AI platform is specifically designed to help you do just that, providing actionable intelligence that protects and enhances your reputation.

4. Proactive Reputation and Risk Management is Essential

As Larry Summers noted, we’re at a “moment of stunning technological possibility”—but also a significant challenge. Our AI-powered tools help you anticipate reputational risks, adapt to changing landscapes, and make strategic decisions aligned with your organisational values.

What This Means:

We’re committed to ensuring you’re not just thinking about AI but effectively leveraging it to lead with confidence.

Signal AI continues to develop AI-powered solutions that offer:

  • Real-time reputation and risk intelligence
  • Access to high-quality, premium, and compliant data
  • Emerging threat detection as well as whitespace opportunities
  • Reputation risk management services built on domain expertise

Closing Thoughts: Collaboration and Action

Davos has always been a unique space to exchange ideas, and this year was no different. From incredible sessions with Zurich Insurance, Goldman Sachs, Dow Jones, Santander, Brunswick, and Founders Forum, to thought-provoking conversations about the future of AI and trust, it’s clear we are standing on the brink of extraordinary change.

With these themes in mind of AI helping you make ‘smarter, better, faster’ decisions, we’re very excited to launch Ask AIQ—Signal AI’s conversational AI interface for instant, reliable insights to help you make more informed decisions. Ask AIQ is the first AI agent of its kind, powered by Signal Al’s high-quality content, cutting-edge analytical capabilities, and unrivaled domain expertise in strategic reputation and risk management.

If you would like to discover how your business can harness AI’s opportunity, I would be happy to set up a time to discuss our latest product innovations.
